those prices are actually less than what u have written down. Still i think the ipod prices are too high especially in this ****** economy, if apple cared at all they would drop prices a bit more.

if apple cared at all they would drop prices a bit more. :mad:They set prices based on cost of production (including R&D and other costs), what competitors are selling similar devices for, and what customers are willing to pay. I'm sure "caring" is not really part of the equation. Apple is a business, not a charity.

These are Canadian prices (the link is to Apple Canada), and they've gone down $10, I bought (and subsequently returned) a 32gb iPod touch two weeks ago for $329 Canadian.

I have a receipt from literally 2 weeks ago from the Eaton Center Apple Store in Toronto for $329 for a 32GB iPod touch.

Perhaps the prices were recently increased quietly due to the increasing exchange rate?

Maybe directly through Apple as they most likely sell for the MSRP (manufacturer's suggested retail price). However, if you check any local retail stores you should find them cheaper. I just checked the Futureshop website and found the following pricing for the 3rd Gen models.

$198.99
$298.99
$398.99

Skyrocket? Seriously, the hyperbole is uncalled for. "Skyrocket" would be a 64 GB for $499. With all these new features, we should be grateful that iPod Touchs are still so reasonably priced.

I'm about 100% certain that those are the same prices as last years launch. The 64GB has always been an SRP of $429 CAD, although chances are (if it's like the last couple of years) Future Shop and Best Buy will sell it for around $398-99 CAD. Buying the iPod Touch from Apple (online and in store) has generally been more expensive than buying it from Future Shop or Best Buy since the 2nd Gen. Looking back through my receipts, the 1st gen iPod Touch from Apple (ordered on launch date in 2007) cost $449 for the 16GB, don't have the receipt for the 2nd gen but it was $398 from Future Shop when I purchased it, and last year the 64GB from $379.99 from Best Buy.
