They both come in external firewire hard drives. Does anybody know of a difference between the two? Does anybody have a preference, or does it not really matter? Is one susceptible to the firewire bug and one not?

well...some companies will not recommend any use of a FW chipset besides the oxford series. In fact, in certain programs, anything but an oxford won't work well or at all (Pro Tools comes to mind). never heard of the other brand you mentioned.

i have two owc fw800 drives with the 922 chipset and they're great.

Thanks for the info. I think you just saved me from some major headaches in the future. I heard someone mention that Pro Tools for OS-9 and OS-X wouldn't work too well without the Oxford chipset, but wasn't sure what he was talking about at the time. You wouldn't happen to know of any other programs that are picky like that would you? They just dropped the price on the OWC drives, that's why I'm asking.
