I have 2006 mac pro, can the mobo (logigboard) be purchased from anywhere other than Apple? Parts and labor to change out is $700 from Apple directly.

If you're sure that logic board, search by Apple part number 661-3919. You'll certainly find a better deal than $700. In few secs I've found it for about $530: http://www.galaxyhp.com/Mac-Pro-40Late-200641-Logic-Board-40refurb-wexchange41_p_179.html&catid=

Another member has used a company called Galaxy (http://www.galaxyhp.com/Mac-Pro-40Late-200641-Logic-Board-40refurb-wexchange41_p_179.html) before (didn't indicate there were any problems with the company), as they'll take the old board and send you one that's been repaired (cheaper, and the warranty is actually longer than new ; 6 mo. vs. 90 days respectively).

Price is $529 vs. $702 (best I've seen new, and what WardC linked).

Hope this helps. :)
