Why does Rear Flash Cause Glare on Photos

Maybe I'm just having bad luck but all the cases I have purchased for my iPhone 4 have caused a glare on the images when using the rear flash:

Belkin Vue (Clear)
http://www.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=512159
- Customer support acknowledged and had me return it back to BustBuy

Belike Micra (Clear)
http://www.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=512038
- Still have pending email out to Belkin

Sena Magnet Flipper (Croco Red)
http://www.senacases.com/apple/iphone-4-cases/magnet-flipper/#
- Sena sent me a replacement but RED glare still exists

So, I still need a full leather case for my wife that protects the front and rear of the phone. That is why I thought the Sena Magnet Flipper case would be a great fit. As for me, I'll just have to wait for Apple to send me my free Speck case and hope it will work.

You have to take the rear protective film off when you first buy the iPhone. :p

Those cases are reflecting light from the flash down into the lens. Any case with a close-fitting cutout for the camera/flash will do it. Otterbox tries to minimize this by seperating the lens and flash in their own little wells, but there is still a little bloom, although minimal compared to other cases. The newest generation of Incipio NGP's have a relatively large cuttout and the bloom is minimal as well.

The only "case" that has never produced bloom (for me) is a bumper style case.

Loads of case makers had to redesign their cases, it's amazing really how this got past QA for so many companies. Generally keyhole/pear shape cut outs cause this. Most have switched to a larger oval shape. My incipio feather is fine.

Just look for a case with an oval cutout for the rear camera and you should be fine. Lot of case manufacturers wanted to mirror the look of the camera/flash layout of the phone into their cases.. This causes the flash issues with all these cases.
