According to many rumors, the iPod touch will be released September 8th. This makes sense (to me personally) because the back-to-school sale ends September 7th.

Apple held the Media Event September 1st and Steve Jobs announced that the new iPods will be available in a week. It was clever to say it that way. The Back to School promotion ends September 7th. September 8th is a week from when Jobs announced the availability of the new iPods. September 8th sounds like the reasonable street release date.

An Apple store employee confirmed to me that they have the iPod Nano 6 down for a 8th September release, chances are the other two iPods will be on that day too.
