Fill in the blanks with Safari

When I used to use Internet Explorer, I could hold control when I hit return and it would fill in "http:www." and ".com" to my address in the address bar. Saved me a lot of typing when entering web addresses! Any similar trick with Safari???

Doesn't Safari fill that out for you, if its missing, upon hitting return... I think it first tries whatever you typed, then adding .com, and then www. if nothing is found...

Firefox does, it even tried the .no-domain first, probably since I'm in Norway...

If I wanted to go to http:/macrumors.com/ You would just type in, macrumors and safari does the rest. I am always showing that to IE explorer users who type in the http and the .com

Yeah, every modern Mac browser (including IE, in fact) will automatically add the http:// and .com for you. Just type the word and hit return.

The only reason the Windows version of IE doesn't do this is Microsoft wants to drive traffic to their MSN search, since they're trying (and failing) to upstage Google. Though even on IEWin, you can just add .com, and it'll add the http:// for you automatically.

Guess I don't know as much about these new-fangled things you people call "Macs" as I think! 😛
