I have the opportunity to get a 400mhz PowerBook G4
the specks are:
400mhz G4
256mb of RAM
10GB HD
CD-DVD player
Airport Card (haha sell it on ebay for like $100)
Brand new battery
Power adapter
Case
Ethernet cable
Screen Cleaning Kit
Great condition- no paint chipping
$450 (may be able to work it down)

assuming those specs suit your need, i think it's a decent deal, especially under the condition you described. (10 GB HD enough? no CD burning?) by the way, what OS is it running?
the RAM is a bit on the low side. if you can get the price down to $400 and budget $100 for a 512 MB stick, you'll have a pretty good machine for $500...

Get it for $300. Without a CD burner and with that little bit of RAM, it's kinda wimpy.
Then stick a 512MB of RAM in there, buy a cheap 30GB 5200rpm drive for it (2.5" drive, not the desktop 3.5" one) and maybe a new optical drive. But if you up the hard drive and RAM its a nice machine. CD-RW drive and you are set!
I'd guess maybe $550 total, after upgrades.

Yes, that's a good deal. I've seen the same go for about $800. You might want to buy some extra RAM and external drives (CD, hard drive), or be prepared to spend a couple hundred on internals. You might want to keep the Airport Card though, you may need it in the future.

Check eBay prices... I wouldn't pay that much, though I say that without checking eBay, if that's standard price or lower, then ignore my tightwad advice.
