Yes, you have a download speed of 1.86MB/s, that is more than enough to stream HD.

It says 14.94 Mb/s, which is short for Megabit per second. MB is short for MegaByte and 8 bit are 1 Byte, thus 14.94 Mb / 8 = 1.86 MB.

What are bits, bytes, and other units of measure for digital information? (http://kb.iu.edu/data/ackw.html)

Yes, as most HD movies have a smaller data rate than 1.86MB/s.

A 90 minute HD movie with a data rate of 1.5MB/s would be 7.9GB big.

An HD trailer in 1080p resolution on Apple's Trailer page has an average data rate of 8 to 10 Mb/s, thus 1 to 1.125 MB/s.

An HD trailer in 720p will have around 6Mb/s, thus less than 1MB/s.

I havent had any issue streaming movies from my external connected to the iMac. Quality seems ok just depending on the rip of the movie. Netflix seems to work without issues.
