I have no idea.

I really don't care if there is a new model replacement either - as long as someone can confirm this is good w/ a hex mac pro that is.

I remember reading something about sandstorm controller I believe but am a novice when it comes to hard drive specs.

I've noticed the Vertex 2 line has been dropping in price across the board lately. Two weeks after I bought my 60GB, price dropped about $20. Not sure either if anything new is coming up, but it's a great drive. I'd definitely recommend that series.
