This poll result is hilarious! Gee, I wonder who the respondants are... probably a bunch of undersexed 30 year olds who still live in their parents's basements! Oh, wait a minute, I voted for her also.... I guess it's just a testosterone thing. Nobody else is all that cute.... Liza Richardson (D.J. girl) is ok, but she is somewhat more intimidating than cute lil' Ellen for some reason.

Let's face it, sex sells. Even when Apple has absolutely no intention to use sex, we find a way to make it a factor... :p

haxton... the network guy... he seems the most helpful in that he actually is a computer person and he says macs are better. whereas most of hte people are just dumb (not all) folks who give bad reasons for prefering the macs..

I see below that you say that you are studying a variety of platforms. I think that "Network Administrators" need to come up with a new title. Just because they work with the top layer of the OSI model, doesn't mean that they even know what the OSI model is, let alone the fact that TCP/IP is not really OSI.

Are you studying routing protocols? Are they teaching you OSPF, BGP, IS-IS, EIGRP and RIP? Are they teaching you the difference between UDP, TCP, and ICMP? Are the platforms you are studying companies like Cisco, Juniper, and Foundry? I may or may not be a "network genius" but I do work as a Network Engineer at the University that has come in first as the "most wired campus" for the past two years. Seriously, if you are studying windows and unix "Lan administration" think about studying for your Cisco certs as well. In the end the pay will be much better and the job can be a hell of alot more interesting. I did Aaron Adams job for two years, and that was enough for me, then I switched to the Cisco side of things, and love my job much more. Not to mention getting a 33% jump in salary.

Think about it. Go to www.ora.com the website for O'Reilly books. Look at their Safari online tech library. You can read all the Cisco press books online for a pretty low price, much cheaper than buying the books. Read Interconnecting Cisco devices, the CCNA study guide, the CCNP routing and CCNP switching books, get your CCNA certification. Work as a server admin for a while, but hang out with the Cisco people and let them know you are interested in learning about the network and you are studying (real) networking. See if your employeer has any lab equipment. If you don't have a computer job now, look in your local university, as Universities are excellent learning opportunities.

Okay, enough preaching here. Sorry for anyone who I bored into a coma, or who does server administration. I totally respect the job that they do. It is extremely important. I am good friends with all the server admins at my job, I just happen to like my job better. If you like being a server admin, then bless you, and stay with it.
