has apple care for MAC Pro on sale. If you link with a discovercard an extra 5 % off. if you live in any of the 50 states except NY no sales tax. so apple care for under 150 with a real seller and in the oem box. I don't know how long the sale is but it is 100 dollar discount.

Thanks for the heads up! I just ordered my Mac Pro last week (should have it tomorrow) but I didn't get AppleCare at the time I ordered. This ought to save a good $50 or so.

he emails codes. codes are a risk. I have used codes before Once with a mac mini once with an Imac. The mac mini code started and stayed good for all 3 years. The iMac code is still good after 9 months. The Jr.com is fully good sealed box 100 less then the apple store. For the extra 50 in savings I did not feel like taking a chance.

yes buy dot com has killer deals they come and they go. I purchased 4 mac minis 2009 models with 2.66ghz cpus 500gb hdds and 4gb ram. for a killer price. they were an EOL ( end of life ) sale. They were under 740 each new sealed with 1 year warranty. they listed for 1050 each as of june 2010 at the apple store. that was a very good deal for me.

Are you suggesting that Apple can revoke AppleCare once you receive "proof of coverage" from Apple? Never heard of it, but would be interesting to know if Apple does this.

I wouldn't have a problem getting the code via email, as long as it registered and Apple sends me the "proof of coverage" after you submit your registration. The seller does offer a guarantee, and with 10,000+ feedback, that's pretty strong if you ask me.

If you buy what turns out to be a bogus code from eBay, and you register it, all is fine, unless someone buys a box from a store that has the same code. Then AppleCare will ask you to prove that yours is legit. If all you have is an email with an code, that won't do. Unless it was purchased from an authorized Apple reseller, and you have the receipt if questioned, they can revoke your coverage.

yes that is the risk.

so for 90 vs 150 after discount and my machine cost 2700. saving 60 is not worth it to me. I am in limbo with the iMac 9 months into a 3 year plan. I did okay with the mac mini. I don't feel like taking a chance with the mac pro. Full price was 250 I paid 149 from a real seller I am good with that. If I grab the ebay mac pro and both the iMac and the mac pro apple care dies and the 2 machines die I am looking at 4k of computers at risk for 120 in savings.
