Apple loves using glass in almost every screen. So yeah they are fragile.. Something that a music player shouldn't be.
Be careful not cut yourself.

It's Captain Obvious! The OP is saying the nano is fragile BECAUSE he dropped it on concrete? We'll duh! The title is misleading and he is implying that the construction of the nano is poorly done. Drop any electronic equipment onto concrete and you'll get pretty much the same result. Does the OP really expect for his iPod to be bullet proof? Stupid thread. :rolleyes:

I'm a little surprised. I thought that since the new iPod nano is small and very light, it would be compact enough to sustain cracks and exterior damage. Evidently, the nano is fragile like most electronic devices.

I've dropped and slammed my iPod nano 5G and it hasn't cracked yet. Glass front as well.

Do you know when I shaked my Nano 4G, it fly out because of its smooth body, but everything is OK. I guess the touch screen is much fragiler

There is a noticeable difference between the 6th gen nano and previous generation. Look at the 6th gen's profile, and you'll see that the 6th gen's glass sits outside/above the aluminum shell rather than laying flush with the case on previous gens. This design would make the type of damage the OP experienced rather easy to reproduce; the glass takes the brunt of the impact rather than sharing it with the aluminum.

Frankly, that worries me, especially since my wife is considering getting my child a new nano as an upgrade to a Sansa Shaker (which I can easily recommend for young children-- it can take a beating, and has a built-in speaker for use with or without headphones). I'm trying to talk her into getting a refurb 5th gen.

would it be worth it to fix the screen? i saw on ifixit they have the break down for it already but don't have the screen yet.
