iphone4 speaker volume

The speaker volume is terribly low comapred to my previous phone.
Is it the way it is or something wrong with the phone.

Thinking about exchanging the phone with samsung captivate.
 
If you are refering to Music volume when uses the iPod without headphones, make sure Settings; iPod; Sound check is set to OFF
This helps the voume on a 3G phone
