BEST FREEware for downloading songs ONTO windows comp from iPod

My friend has just purchased a new 20 gig 4g iPod. i have a 4g iPod with about 500+ songs on it, and i would like to transfer my music onto his windows computer. I believe this is possible, and I would like to know what the best FREEware is to do this job.

I don't think you can do that, you would have to re-sync your iPod if your on a mac and he's on windows. If you can get on the same network, sending that many songs will only take a few minutes.

there is a program that allows you to connect an apple ipod to a windows machine and download all the music its not freeware but they do have a full function trial version, its called xplay. http://www.mediafour.com/products/xplay/

Someone who goes by Ashley Slater emailed me this same question - here is the relevant part of my reply:

I recommend the use of iLinkPod (http://www.ilinkpod.com/) on the Mac or ephPod (http://www.ephpod.com/) on the PC (doesn't matter which one you use - it's your preference) to accomplish this task. There is a MUCH simpler and FREEway to do this.

You have the music from your 4g ipod on your mac right?

Therefore plug your iPod into the PC and reformat it using the iPod software so it's a PC iPod.

Method One
"Next plug your PC iPod into your mac and instead of syncing the itunes library make a folder on the ipod called 'Whatever you want' and move the music from your library to this folder. And then plug your ipod into the PC and copy the music from this folder into the PC's iTunes and your done."

Method Two
"Plug the PC iPod into the mac and sync the library again. Then plug the iPod into the PC again and use some free software...(Don't know I'm a mac user, but I know they are out there.) To 'RIP' the music from the iPod and into the PC's iTunes library."

If you want to reformat your ipod as a Mac pod again after all this then simply plug it back into your mac and use the iPod software to reformat the iPod
