VLC for Ipod Touch - subtitles?

As a deaf user of apples product, i need to have subtitles in order to watch something, which i can easily do on my MacBook, with VLC and SRT files, my question is, with a release of VLC coming for ipod touch, will i be able to watch shows and films using SRT files for subtitles?
