Mbuddies just gave me this for christmas. One of their fathers had it for a long time. It's a dull golden color, and it's about as big as a kenedy half dollar. There's no pin or anything on the back. Does anyone know what it is or where to find more out about it?http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v74/hamhocks/DSCN1244.jpg

Could be a die tool. If you crack open a G3 iMac case the logo in coloured plastic looks just like the golden logo you have. (not knowing how big a Kenedy half dollar is!). Nice though.

As someone who works with tooling and dies for more than fifteen years, I can say that it is not likely a die tool, but it may be something like a "pocket medallion" ... such as what we carried in boyscouts. It was inscribed with "transfer this coin to your right pocket once you have done a good deed". Perhaps you could use this talisman in a similar way?

I'd guess that it was a pin, and that the pin part was glued onto the back and fell off at some point.

Perhaps it's the Golden Apple of Eris :p

I'm thinking of making it a necklace, but I'd glue a piece to the back rather than drill a hole through it.

But none of those pins are the size of a Kennedy half-dollar.
