Now I don't know what to get - either one of these, a vertex 2, or wait for Intel G3. Decisions, decisions.....
I realize that the prices aren't super cheap (if you live in the US), but if you live in Canada where our prices suck, this could actually be a good deal!

If I use the 120gb as my boot drive w/ apps only, when I install Vmware Fusion and Windows 7, do I install it to the same drive? If so, how much space should I allocate?

OCZ Onyx 2 has only up to 10,000 random write IOPS. It seems that Vertex 2 is a better choice.

It's all firmware. And most of the time it won't make a difference.

its a value based drive ? so yeah for performance the vertex 2 will be better in their lineup ? :)
real world ? hard to say but price wise this is good news I say :) I will be getting two 120 when they come out maybe ?

BTW the 120GB Vertex 2 is only $240 at the moment, so that's a good deal as well.

If only it was that cheap in Canada. It's $270 (that's with the $30 MIR on Newegg).

There is some rumors about Intel G3 being delayed

What's the point of waiting for the G3 anyway?
I mean it's still SATA II, so no improvements in sequential speeds over other drives that are available now. Or are the random speeds and IOOPS going to be completely insane with the new G3?

Yeah I saw that earlier, but there's nothing out yet to show what kind of controllers they will use, is there? The will most likely double capacity as well, for the same price.
I think buying a Vertex 2 for now would be a good choice - you will have ~5 months before the Intels hit the market (maybe even more if they are delayed). It's better to enjoy something right now instead of waiting around for something that hasn't even come out yet (*hint* lightpeak )
