The OCZ Vertex II keeps getting recommended but they are twice the price of many others. I'm thinking about getting the 3.5" or LE versions of the Vertex II which are both cheaper but have less over-provisioning, as I understand it.

My home folder doesn't get a massive amount of data written to it. My music is all on the cloud and I don't take more than 500 photo's a year. This is for a professional graphics machine.

Don't worry about it. With normal desktop use, it should last years. I expect you would want to upgrade to something bigger/faster long before you wear it out.
