Hey guys. I know this has probably been asked before but I have no idea how to formulate search terms to not get a ton of junk results, so please bare with me on this.

I have a PowerBook G4 with a 1.67GHz processor and DVI output and a retarded graphics card. I want to buy a Pismo and hotrod it as mentioned by The Apple Blog. Basically, I'm asking if I can pull the processor out of the G4 and drop it in the Pismo.

Also, if there's any site I can look up sockets and whatnot for these guys, let me know. MacTracker doesn't mention that stuff as far as I know.

No, you have to transplant the entire logic board/mother board.

Logic board replacements for
G3 PB Pismo: http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Repair/Installing-PowerBook-G3-Pismo-Logic-Board/36/1
G4 PB Aluminium 1.67Ghz, 15": http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Repair/Installing-PowerBook-G4-Aluminum-15-Inch-1-67-GHz-Logic-Board/640/1

Btw, MRoogle (my sig) is a good tool to search MacRumors Forums.

Alright, thanks.

When I search for processor upgrades I find a lot of sites that look like they haven't been touched since Pismo was a baby. Where do all you guys go for your upgrades?

Once in a blue moon an upgrade part will pop up on eBay. Just keep your eye out. They're really rare.
