Hello,

I have been trying to download a song featured on this site (www.anniemusic.co.uk). The song is available in .wma format and what claims to be an apple/ipod compatible format. When I download the apple version i get a .hqx file, and when opened a folder with the extension .m4p.

What the heck is going on here, why doesn't the file open into audio.

do you get the folder, or is it an audio file?

What does it open into? It should work, if for some reason it doesn't in iTunes you can try opening it up in Quicktime if you haven't already. It could just be a corrupted file or something, try to find another file of that type to see if it works.

I just downloaded the file and it is .m4p, the kind that is playable in iTunes and on the iPod. It is a protected file, I don't know whose DRM is being used, Apple's maybe? Just double click it and iTunes should open. If it doesn't open, right click on the file and choose get info, and choose iTunes as the program to open it. You can also just drag it into iTunes itself.

Format = File Extension MPEG3 = mp3 AAC = m4a MPEG4 = m4p

I believe that is how it goes.

Almost...

DRM AAC = m4p

Which type of DRM? Who owns it that is?

Right now, only Apple's FairPlay DRM used in the iTunes Music Store...
