Help with speakers/surround sound system?

For Christmas this year I am thinking about asking for a nice surround sound system. So can anyone recommend a good system that I should get?

I did some looking around but there is so many different things I just don't know what to get.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I second the recommendation for the Onkyo system. I am using it on my system, which includes the ATV 2nd gen., it is a GREAT system for a moderate sized room. The sound is terrific, it has HDMI repeater capacities, and the price is right!
