Will the new Airplay be able to stream video from my computer iTunes library to the iPad? I know it will do this to the Apple TV but will it stream to the iPad once 4.2 is out?

There are hints within the Apple TV Lowtide app that show the iPad may get this functionality one day. Will it get it with 4.2? Probably not.

I think you are not completely clear what Airplay will do. For now it only support Audio (video support for the future), right now it is nothing more than a "Speaker Wire" replacement. You can stream your Audio to Speakers or Amplifier with Airplay Support. when the Video capability is enable, it will be able to broadcast your video to a Airplay TV or monitor that are Airplay compatible.

iTunes stream to the AppleTV have nothing to do with Airplay. it is done over home sharing using a local Network.

iPad (and all iOS devices) will get Airplay on 4.2 where any iOS device will be able to stream audio to any Airplay compatible devices (Speakers, stereos, amps, etc).

OK I understand now, but what I was interested in was the ability to stream video from iTunes to iPad. I see now that this is not possbile at the current time.:(

Dotcom2. The wifi streaming of videos from iTunes to the iPad can be done with the free Air Video app. which I use without problem.

THANKS!
I'll look into it.
One would think though that if a third party approved App could do this, why wouldn't Apple do this on their own?

Well, they can't do *everything*. I remember an Apple VP explaining this in an interview a few years back. I think it was about why copy & paste took so long to implement on the iPhone, and he was saying it just wasn't as much of a priority as some other stuff, and they are only so many people, so can only work on so many things at once, and they've got to pick and choose what to work on.

I got into Zumocast over the weekend (since AirVideo is broken on 4.2 at the moment). I prefer it, as it enables you to stream non-mp4 videos from your computer, download videos to the app over wifi, as well as stream your music library.

if you have an older mac (a G5 iMac in my case) and Airvideo won't work, you can turn on the web server and access video through safari on your iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad.

I just read an article stating that Apple is sitting on 50 billion in cash!
That's 50 BILLION!!!
I think they can afford to hire a few more people.
