With gift money saved, it's now time to buy
a sweet brand new shiny iMac G5
Although some of you would say I should wait
I must have it now, so please, no debate
The Apple store knocks off 100 for me
since it's not until May that I get my degree
Around where I live there is no Apple shrine
a store to Alabama they have yet to assign
So I'll order online with my aging G4
but first, just a question, and an answer implored:
Here it's plus nine percent for any new Macs
but if there's no real store here, will the Apple store tax?

Check Amazon for your Mac
Their rebates are back
No tax must you pay
It's a beautiful day
An iMac for $1250
I'd say that's pretty nifty

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0002OG6PM/qid=1104259110/sr=2-3/ref=pd_ka_b_2_3/103-3608322-6518229

Even with government fees
Apples price will still please.
Edu pricing is just $16 more
and you will get your money right at the door.

I hate to wait
for my rebate,
$16 is not much to pay
for not getting my discount this way.

ALso consider that the refurbed G5
Just might keep your piggy bank alive!
$1099 for a 1.6,
or $1299 if you want to do fancy tricks
with your 1.8ghz 17 incher!
If you're not a penny pincher,
the 20" model will set you back
1699 dollar bills, all in a stack.

Best wishes my friend
I hope in the end
that you love your new Mac
and don't have to take it back!

Rob

It must be due to the holiday season, we certainly have several very talented poem writers. Good job. ;)

Yes, you your state has a sales tax then Apple will charge accordingly. If you are in need of a new Mac now, then yes by all means go ahead.

Besides Amazon.com you might also consider a refurb from Apple.

Your post
It isn't in verse
Instead you chose prose
Which stinks more than a hearse

Your text color
It should be orange
To avoid being dolor
You should try... uh... :)

It's OK, I'm not good at rhyming either.
Hehe.

Believe it or not, poetry no longer has to be in verse these days. There is such a thing as prose poetry. I like to call it poetry for those who have no rhythm. Then again, I'm also considered to be really weird in thinking that things like rhyme, meter, form, and style and whatnot aren't just archaic throwbacks but instead indicators of skill.

*Thread topic hat on*
Macmall doesn't charge tax...I might call them and see if they'll match Apple's edu discount

*Wishful thinking hat on*
Alabama needs an Apple store. We have NASA, why can't we have an Apple store?

I've written quite a bit of the prose poetry myself. But I wanted to try and include the word "orange" in a thread filled with rhymes and people with way too much time on their hands.

He is very right but the only things in life you have to do are pay taxes and die.

I don't much care for prose poetry either. I much prefer to use the old outdated concepts of rhyme and meter, although I have been known to not pay attention to rhyme sometimes, depending on what it is I'm trying to do.

I might have to start another poetry thread or something.

Well, I ordered my iMac this morning, but Macmall offered me a better deal, free shipping like Apple, but no sales tax. Sales tax is a whopping 9% where I live, so that made a world of difference. I blame it on the timber companies who lobby to keep property taxes miniscule, so the state makes up for it in sales taxes.
