how much to charge a college for an app?

my friend's son created an app that he wants to sell to his college.

he doesn't know how much to charge...is there a reference to this sort of thing?

As much as they'll pay for it.

This question is impossible to answer without a full understanding of the app, what it does, competitors in the marketplace, expected licensing terms, the college's budget, etc. etc. etc.
