PSU fan always full song on MP2.1 - resolved!!

I'm having problems with my old Mac Pro. The PSU is always running on full rpm.

Any idea how I can trouble shoot this problem?

Have you tried an SMC reset? http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964?viewlocale=en_US

I had to do this with a simalar issue on an old iMac.

Problem resolved. I took the GPU, the optical bay and the PCI bay fan unit out and reset all power connections. It was probably a loose connector.
