Wow! I love my Mac too but I hope this guy gets out once in awhile for a bit of 'real world' interaction!

My thoughts, too. It was a bit over-the-top, I was mildly embarassed for him.

Well I love my Mac too. But yeah that is really deep. I think a lot of us who were teenagers in the Mac years were into computing whether it was Macs or not. I guess for me technology became a method and a doorway of self expression, but so was my music, and other things. LOL Anyways I guess its good for this Trent guy he found a medium for self-expression.

The first Mac came out the year I graduated High School, so I missed out being a digi-teen. I did have an Apple II+ which is what began my fascination with computers in general and later with the Macintosh.
What resonates with me is the part about not wanting to use drugs because I'd rather be using the Mac, too. In fact, I don't know of any Mac users that are into anything heavier than pot. Wouldn't that make a great ad campaign? Buy a Mac to keep your kids off drugs!
Just a thought.

"Technology has granted me the power of a god."
...but alas, not the power to know when to stop.
This guy needs to get laid.
Please shoot me (or anyone else here) if they ever start sounding like this guy...

Haha. I probably do, it has been a month. Then again I'm probably doing better than a lot of guys my age in that department. :p
I do get out, probably not as much as I should, but I do. I'm a college student, and I work retail. I just spent the previous week living in a mall selling cologne. A mall during the holidays is a bit more reality then most can handle, yet I do just fine. The point of my article was to tell the story of how people from my generation have grown up with this kind of power and technology. It is a double-edge dagger. Plus its not so much a love for the Mac, its the pursuit of knowledge and truth that is truly addicting. As I replied to a comment on my own site, one of the sentences I had was, "While my peers experimented with physiological drugs, I had discovered my own drug, the Mac." I was debating whether to say "the Mac," or "information." I went with "the Mac" because it was my way of getting the information I sought as well as part of the inspiration for getting it. Basically, I'm giving the messenger credit, because I think its due.
Do I need to get out more? Probably.
Do I need to get laid? Most likely.
As for pot, its good for two things: making people hungry and horny.

Hey... thanks for turning up to bat.
Your article was a *little* over the top but when it comes to our Macs, I s'pose we can all forgive a little excessive enthusiasm...
Welcome to MacRumors BTW. Hope you stay around -- really nice crowd and impassioned debates.

Thanks for the welcome, but I'm not really new. I've been around for a while, hehe. I wish I had more time to spend on forums, but I spend most of my time on my own site -- which is doing very well. I haven't been writing as much recently due to my battle with my own demons but I plan to write more into the future.

That story has a lot in common with my own, so I could identify with it. In fact, I feel much the same way the author of the story does.

I just kinda thought the article was tongue in cheeck. At least I hoped it was tongue in cheek. I mean (unlike Windows people) we love our computers and all, but I would hope we're not in love with them. Can't say the article wasn't entertaining though.
Plus, considering we're on a Mac Rumors site, kinda pot calling the kettle black isn't it? :p
