preview icon on mp3 files went missing

only recently i lost the possibility to play my mp3s neatly by clicking little play icon inside the file icon. i know this depends on the size of icons, but no matter how big my icons are the play button doesn't show.

does anybody know where on earth is this option?
 
Have you installed anything recently, before the play icon disappeared?
And it does really not show while hovering over the icon, not even in Cover Flow (Command + 4)?
