Ok, I just bought this enhance powerbook G3 500 from a friends of mine who owns a mac store. He likes to play around with the components and for $1000 I just got my second pismo like this:
30GB Hard drive... ok.
1GB ram... nice
4MB backside cache... ? (it doesn't show up at the Apple System Profiler).
and... 16 MB of video ram!!!

I place the computer beside my old Pismo and this one rocks big time. The processing is so much faster, just because the cache.

I would like to know how this baby would work with a new G4 500 enhance!

4MB cache? How'd your friend manage that? He must be very resourceful and great with a soldering iron.:D
Damn. That's one helluva hack. I can't imagine how fast that thing could be with a 500Mhz G4. Again, damn.

Check out http://arstechnica.infopop.net/OpenTopic/page?a=tpc&s=50009562&f=8300945231&m=4140912135

and try the OS X benchmark ... the updated v2.1 posted by nibs 1/2 way down the page.

Should be interesting to see where your new machine ranks amongst the rest.

The benchmark machine is a G4/400 running OS 9.
