I am sure a release date will be announced .. but no actual release ..

Extremely unlikely for the very reasons that you have mentioned in your post.
I'd take a handful of developers' posts over wild conjecture any day...

They're seeding alpha builds.... not even beta builds... duh... let's see... alpha comes before beta.... and final is after beta.. so.... not likely anytime soon.. if we had seen 2 betas before christmas.. i would've said maybe a release a few weeks after MWSF but that would be pushing it... i give it another 2 to 3 months before we see anything close to release material.. expect it before WWDC

Duff-Man says....sorry, but this thread (and it's title) is not only ridiculous but also very redundant (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=102530) ....oh yeah!

Here's hoping that it will not take a year from first public demo to final release. Tiger seemed to work pretty well at WWDC.
I would like to see a release of iLife 05 and this iWorks package immediately and allow any major bugs therein worked out in a month or so. Then, sometime in March, we will have the release of miniMac with Tiger preinstalled as well as refined versions of iLife 05 and iWorks. (Is that even enough time to find/fix bugs and have software preloaded on a new machine for shipping?)
Don't expect new Mac converts to like having an OS upgrade (free or $20 or $129) a couple of months after buying. That being said, I hate to see miniMac delayed any further awaiting software.

I thought they said already that it will be 2nd Quarter of 2005. Or maybe it was the beginning of the 2nd half of the year. All I know is that they said it in a keynote or something.

IMHO, not even sure that Steve will even give us an actual release date of Tiger. He may just reinforce the first half of 2005 time frame.
