Mac os X Tiger - Emulates a 64 bit computer!

Apparantly, the new OS by Apple will emulate a 64 bit processor so slower machines will run it faster. Apple seemed to have kept this silent because it is kind of cheating. Would a 64 bit 1GHZ G4 be faster than a 3GHZ pentium 4? :confused:
