I'm looking for a program that slows down music files. I play guitar, so it helps to learn a song when you can actually play along with the actual recording. I tried putting it in GarageBand and changing the tempo, that didnt work. Any (preferably) free programs to do this?

Duff-Man says....not free unfortunately, but a great program is Amazing Slow Downer (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/12457) ....it'll do the job wonderfully. I know there's another good one for this but I can't recall it at the moment.....oh yeah!

I've used ASD and it works well... just too slow on my iMac 400Mhz, it usually craps out halfway through a song. Converting the files to AIFF first helps somewhat, but its a hastle, and it uses up my precious Hard Drive space. Unfortunately I haven't heard of any other programs that can do this.

Duff-Man says....ah...remembered the other one - TimeToy / TimeToyPro (http://home.planet.nl/~menti049/lownorth/software/timetoypro.html) - not quite the quality of ASD but cheaper (and a really "lite" free version).....oh yeah!
