PowerMac G4 Servers are now available from the Apple Store:
Configurations start at $2,999 for Dual 1-GHz G4's and include Mac OS X Server Software (Jaguar 10.2), and top out with dual 1.25 GHz G4's -- exceeding current Xserve configurations.

Even if they out perform the XServe, its just a matter of time before those too are upgraded. But the towers do have the two media bays which come in usefull if you wanted a super drive and/or CDR/W.
I don't think it matters all that much, the markets are a different for the machines. I wonder if there is any way to see in a month or so how many they've been selling - compare the two servers.

The Xserve is Rack Optimized for high density applications. This is important to many people.
These servers will be nice for the more simple Server based networks. Easy upgrades and maintenence over Rack solutions IMO.

If you need a Dual 1.25 in a hurry, these are shipping in 1-2 days! This sure beats the 6-8 week wait for the standart 1.25.
