Did you cause the scratches yourself? If yes then no. If no then yes.

Then try to take it back and see what they say.

Sounds like a carelessness issue to me.

Are you sure the "scratches" are not the shooting stars from the wallpaper? I've had a couple of people come to me about this only for me to remind them that what they are seeing are the shooting stars from the stock wallpaper.

Agreed. Apple never said that the glass would not scratch. You might want to be a little more careful with you things because Target does not have to exchange it for you if they believe you are abusing your products.
