Hi all,
I have a hacked 4890 in my mac pro and I installed it around April or May-ish. I noticed that the fan will speed up, slow down, speed up.........slow down....................speed up slow down at different times when idle. I've noticed this happen when I didn't shut down the computer at night.
So I wanted to make sure it was the video card fan making the noise. I sort of skimmed the fan while it was running with the tip of my finger to slow it down a bit. It was the fan.
After having done that it started buzzing and making a real bad noise for about 1 minute and then it just went back to normal.
Is the card going bad? Can this be a power surge of some sort?
