Here are the pros and cons of the 11.6 air compared to my MBP in my opinion. I have a 2.8 Imac 24 I use for photo editing, video, etc so I went with the $950 model (student discount). I hope I can get 6-700 for my mbp.
Pros:
1. Very fast startup and opening apps etc.
2. sharper screen due to lower dot pitch
3. Perfect build quality. Everything lines up perfectly. No creaks.
4. Very thin and light.
5. very cool and quiet.
Cons:
1. no backlit KB. this is the biggest con although the keys are somewhat reflective and I can see in the dark for the most part. had they included this it would be perfect but not a deal breaker.
2. web cam sucks but i don't really use it.
Over all this is one amazing machine.
