If you look all over this website and search the forums, you will see that it is widely expected that the iPod mini will be bumped to a 5 GB capacity soon, likely announced at Macworld (Steve Jobs' keynote address is the 11th). It would seem that this new capacity would be available almost immediately--and some have even rumored that some of the currently available iPod mini's are actually using the new drive already.
My guess is that the mini's will not drop in price because that would eat into sales of the also-highly-expected iPod flash/micro. Therefore, the (expected) new iPod mini's will have 25% more storage than the current ones for probably the same price and (here's hoping) maybe some other new features like better battery life, etc.
