Researchers are finding that the amount of inflammation in the arteries of the heart is also important. Currently patients are on cholesterol lowering drugs. Most patients are aware of their cholesterol level. New research is showing that checking CRP (C-Reactive Protein) should also be checked by doctors. It can lower inflammation and reduce risk of a second heart attack. Now they want to find if it would also prevent a first heart attack.
