I just purchased a MBA 11.6''. When I turn it on and off, it always seems to show code, like bios code.

Does anyone elses do this? Is it normal? Can you get rid of it?

weird, only thing I can think of is to try and open Terminal and type

nvram -p

then press enter, if the boot-args entry it displays has a v beside it then its set to always boot verbose mode

in which case type

sudo nvram boot-args=""

then press enter

Thank you both. This seems to have worked and it boots/shuts down very quickly now. Why would it have been set to this mode from default?

good to hear its sorted :)

Why it was like that I really couldnt tell you - If it was boxed n sealed when you bought it and did that from first time you powered it up then, all I can hazard a guess at is some sort of factory test that wasn't reset to default before packaging?
