I am trying to get the best use of the You Tube access on the new ATV. I have not spent much time on You Tube, but there it is on the ATV and I think I am missing out on something. Other then watching hang gliding donkeys (thank you Modern Family) what is it good for. Are there movies or TV shows available?

Should I create a You Tube account, what do you use it for?

Even though YouTube is mostly amateur video, you can still use it for watching official music videos (often in HD). Every once in a while I'll fire it up with the family on the couch and start searching for whatever we can dream up (AFV, funny people, funny animals, etc.). It's great for whenever there's nothing on basic cable.

YouTube in the living room can be extremely entertaining. You can cover the gamut by searching for one topic, and before you know it you're watching something completely unrelated because it caught your eye.

Create an account if you want to upload your own clips, or if you simply want to keep a list of your favorite videos, or subscribe to other users who routinely publish videos you enjoy.

Up, up in my studio, studio
I popped into this thread expecting mentions of music videos. Normally I'd leave satisfied-- YouTube is the new MTV-- but there are other things you can watch too. If you're into standup comedy, there are classic bits from just about everybody-- Bill Cosby, Jerry Seinfeld, Eddie Murphy, George Carlin, Jeff Dunham (his Achmed bit is one of YT's most watched ever), John "You Go NOW" Pinette, and lots of good yet more obscure ones too like Jen Kober.

YouTube is also the ADHD teen/post-puberty TV place, with stuff from Fred (trust me, he's easier to stomach in his original three-minute vignettes than the movie), Shane Dawson (definitely NSFW) and The Annoying Orange (kid-safe) among others.

One great viral video aggregator guy is Ray William Johnson; he review three viral videos every episode, with funny commentary.

Best of all, YouTube + :apple:tv = No Annoying Pop-Up Ads Or Annotations, FTFreakin'W.

EDIT: But wait, there's more-- WAY more. It's like Rule 34 (?) of the Internet, for video. Special XBox gaming tips and tricks from the Achievement Hunters, to old-school analog synth demos from Retrosound.de, to drag queen makeup tips from Blanche Babcock-- just about everything except hardcore porn.
