Problems transfering .jpegs on aol (mime)

I have a friend that I enhanced some photos in photoshop for. I saved them as .jpg files. I tried drag & drop, and attaching the photo in mail (using aol) and they are coming up on his windows xp machine as .mime files and he can't open them. Any idea on what the problem is.

ChrisHow is your friend opening accessing his email? It appears as though his email client is not properly configured to handle MIME types.
