Dont know if you knew this but if you press command (apple key) while cliking on the menu icons (ie time airport sound) you can move them around

You can also drag them off of the menu bar while holding cmd. When you drag them off they poof like stuff in the dock.

Yeah, its pretty well known. Its hinted at more than once.
