Hi :)

I've got an Ipod Classic 20GB, model A-1059 in front of me with a dead harddrive. I replaced the harddrive with a 4GB Compact Flash card, hoping that itunes would recognize it & restore.... but it didn't.

To make the compactflash fit, i cutted a little notch of the HD-connector as internet gives me the idea that convert-to-flash-adapters are more or less nothing more than straight electrical connections, no cross wiring or so.

It's a hobbyproject, no major loss as it is an old device, and not even mine.

Who can point me in the right direction to get this oldie back on track? I did some googling and came up with not so much.

I think i need something to download and install on the CF but i have no idea what or where to look.

If you need more info, please ask. I'm running win7 btw.

Thank you very much :)

Thanks!

I was looking for a way around some sort of adapter, but i'll read it anyway.

In the meanwhile. I had the HD out of the ipod, charged it with the CF installed and so far no luck.

I just putted back the HD after some tapping and squeezing it and it is alive!

So far so good. I don't trust the hardware one bit, as it already has died once. However. I still can't get a connection with my PC. Any idea how to access it? Is Itunes able to recognize it or is it too old for the latest version?

Thanks!

Nevermind, changing the usb-port and then restore was the answer. :)
