I just opened my new 13" MacBook Air that was delivered through Amazon. There is a small chip in the aluminum on the front right side. I noticed it as I was sliding the computer into my laptop bag.

The computer seems great otherwise. Just curious if anyone else noticed any defects in the aluminum casing and what you've done about it?

Unfortunately I don't have a camera other than my phone which sucks at close focus range.

Amazon has, what amounts to, a no questions asked return policy. If there is a defect in the finish of your system, get it replaced, and do it soon, so there is no question about the origin of the blemish. If it is minor, and likely to be similar to dings you will put in it over the next few weeks anyway, no big deal.

ordered mine directly from apple, fresh and clean, no knicks, scuffs, scratches, dings or dents.

nothing wrong with one bought from Apple, if you would have bought from Apple, they would have overnighted you a advanced replacement, however Amazon takes a bit.

You're absolutely wrong. Amazon would overnight you the advanced replacement as soon as you filed the claim. You can return the old one within 30 days.

Yep, Amazon has done this for me in the past....I find Amazon's return policy superior to Apple's. There is no funny business with restocking fees (apple usually waives them too, but it is not their official policy) and there are fewer hurdles to jump through to get a 100% refund. Plus no sales tax at Amazon.
