Hey all, maybe this is a bit OT, but I've just designed a website for someone and I used a freeware font for the logo that was available for commmercial or personal use.

HOWEVER, I googled the font name and turned up an old jazz album design which apparently the font was modeled after. Is there a chance I could run into legal trouble with this, or am I ok? Just a little scared because CERTAIN industries (RIAA comes to mind) sue over anything...t

Thanks!

Where did you get the font from? A freeware site? It might be that the font had been released from its copyright by their authors.

Go with it... I very much doubt that they'd be any ramifications for using it.

Just be prepared in the extremely off-chance someone has beef to ultimately plead ignorance and pay for the font. That's probably the worst case scenario, and even at that, fonts are pretty cheap. that said, the likelihood of anyone noticing is next to zilch. If they don't actually know who designed the logo, they don't actually know whether or not that person rightfully purchased the font.
