After many months weeks and hours pondering over purchasing an apple mac yet feeling anxious upon using another os other than windows, i took the plunge.

First I would like to state how impressed i was with the apple staff during the purchase, thank apple for a fantastic retail experience. Approachable, friendly and welcoming are the words i would use to describe the retail staff.

Secondly I would like to state how in awe i am over my new macbook air. From the design to the ease of the os, from this day on i am a future apple mac buyer and converter (however i do need my windows pc for games and because win 7 is till the best os imho, hopefully apple in the future will work on that aspect)

From the first time i turned it on to 4 hours later this zippy, beautiful little work horse....oh i have fallen in love

Thank you apple for leaving me gobsmacked and in awe over the service and this well crafted os and master craft piece of engineering.

Sorry this probably didnt deserve a new thread but i wanted to express the happiness i feel now using my first mac.

i'm not in awe of it but will give credit where it's due.

and i didn't sweat over my decision. i picked up my first mac the 13" july '10 build 2.4. nice kit but i'm also very much enjoying the thinkpad x201s i have with windows 7. equally innovative chassis with its combination of mag and carbon. good stuff and great for business users like myself. comparable quality and performance.

but after i saw the air and read the forums here, after 3 days use, i put my fresh out of the box mbp on craigs, drove over to the apple store and picked up the $1799 or just shy of the 2k mark mba.

imho, there is no argument that the mba trounces the mpb... period... aside from price. in fact, it just about annihilates any lightweight laptop in the market including windows 7 machines.

-clearly faster than the supposedly more powerful mpb

-boot up and shutdown times are crazy good, the fastest of anything i've ever experienced

-nonscientific test, but booting up outlook (new mac office) is quite a bit quicker than on the mbp (a bit of hair splittage here, but you notice it)

-the form factor is great for a traveler like me

-the screen resolution i got used to quite quickly so when i look at the mbp now, it's like i'm looking at an atari

-it runs cooler (but the fan does make a bit more noise than on the mbp which i couldn't hardly hear a peep)

so for those of you sitting on the fence between mpb (best of last gen) and the mba (newest of the next gen), i'd totally recommend that you save up more bones to get the mba. not the 11 incher. the 13.3 incher. it's worth the extra dough.

it's the future of mobile computing for apple. it really sets the bar. i hope some weird issue doesn't pop up as w/ other apple hardware.

well done appl.
