I don't see the Newton as a failure - more of a machine that was WELL ahead of its time.

The Newton was the most successful PDA up to the introduction of the Pilot, but it was unable to compete with the cheaper (crappier) flood of devices that followed.

Agreed. I remember when I had a 130, then a 2000, then a 2100. Great piece of kit, it was.
