Yesterday I went to my local Apple Store, I decided I would buy Applecare for my New MBA, I get a sales man who then tells me the 11.6 MBA is too new and they dont have the correct Applecare in stock.

The store was crowded so instead of finding another apple store. I just left.

Could it be they didnt have the physical applecare box you get?

Not the worst of the sob stories that usually pop up here, but disappointing just the same... I guess. You have a year to buy Applecare, though...

How is that an out of stock item equates to a "bad Apple store experience"? I guess melodrama is ripe this morning.

You have a whole year for it to be necessary. This is hardly a problem. If they hadn't payed attention to you and didn't even explain the situation, then it would be a bad experience. The salesman did everything he could, so he did his job.

You actually don't need a box or anything.....just call 1-800-APL-CARE. You can pay for it by phone and you are ready to go! I've done it with three of my computers. It's great.

Enjoy your Air, I'm still trying to decide if I want the 11". I got the 13" ultimate, but I am still drooling over the 11.

Contrary to what some believe, Apple stores are just like any other store.

Today I went to a Burger King and tried to order a salad. The sales man told me it was too early and they didn't have any in stock.

The next Burger King was 5 minutes away, so instead of finding another one I went home and made myself some bacon and eggs?

Holy crap. Today I went to a diner for bacon and eggs. They said it was too early as the chickens hadn't laid any eggs yet.

The next diner was 5 minutes away, so I went home and made myself a salad.

That's a good story.

Uh, it's the same Applecare for all of the laptops. And stores you've been to never run out of stock???

Order online from Apple: http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC246

Or get it cheaper from Amazon.

Perhaps the OP is suggesting the Apple employee had no idea what he/she was talking about - the new MBA does not have it own specific Apple care. The existing one works, and they must have lots in stock given it's the same one for their Macbooks and 13" MBP.

Sorry it posted before i was done.
The item was in stock, the sales guy thought the apple care was not for the 11.6 inch MBA.
Must be that temp. Sales help for the holidays.
The thing is I drove 2 hours to get to the closest store and had cash to buy it, I would have done it online if i had anything but cash.

OK point taken.

As you said, just by it online and get it over with. No need more drama.

Went to a CityMac (independent chain dealer) store with the intention of buying an Air. They only had one 11 inch model and the display tables were pretty empty where other laptops were supposed to be displayed. Nobody paid any attention to me even though I waited several minutes while the sales rep kept flirting with a co-ed who wasn't buying anything. Left and ordered online. And for what it's worth I wasn't any more impressed when I was in an Apple Store a couple of months ago either.

Driving 2 hours was your choice, that doesn't equate nor should it factor into having a bad Apple store experience. Your thread title is totally misleading. As other said you could've ordered online so adding the part that you drove 2 hours is nonsense.

Too bad you didn't think to drive 5 minutes to a bank and deposit the money and buy it online or over the phone.

Contrary to what some believe, Apple stores are just like any other store, they cannot sell a product they don't have in stock
