Notice the amount of scribbled notes pointing out features that would never amount $55,000. Looks intense though.
I guess you could pay more for a PC that you can hide or just get a Mac that looks good on display.

I wouldn't pay $55 for a PC, much less $55,000. The only thing that desk would be useful for in my house would be as a table to rest my iBook on. :D

I could see someone getting that, putting their iBook on it, and then having that 42" Plasma (15"LCD) screen pop up and launch the sucker.

Its kind of funny that the day Apple releases the $499 Mac, we hear about the $55,000 PC. Who's snobby now?

this is ridiculous, with less than an 8th of that money you could get an amazing mac with a 30" wide screen. and that ugly dresser looks stupid!!!
GO MAC OR GO HOME!!!

I read about this on the register last week but I thought it would look a hell of a lot better than that. It's just a cheap screen and nasty looking keyboard mounted in an expensive dresser. Surely they could machine up some nice looking PC parts maybe surround the screen in wood rather than plastic and find or produce a really nice keyboard. Maybe that is just a quick prototype and the real version will be a lot better, I sure hope for their sake it is.

But it's running Winblows. You wouldn't buy a Rolls Royce with a Yugo engine, would you?

NO... that's the price of the G5 PB after all the R&D going into it to make a G5 not melt the aluminum.

They're definitely overcharging for the computer.
But hand crafted high-end furniture *start* at $30k so its not too outrageous.

The thing is, if you have that much money to spend, why worry about where you put your computer. Have your nice den/living room and then set up another room just for a computer - silly.....
I'd love to see a list of people who have bought one :p

Notice that even after spending that much on a PC/Desk, the Owner still wants to hide it in a desk so no one can see it, hmm there must be a reason fer that! -G

That is certainly an impressive looking setup. I like the natural wood look, so I'm impressed by the desk. Still for his $55,000, it's only a PC.

I dont care what anyone says, the 30" display, wait, 2 displays and a dual 2.5 g5 totally owns that lump of **** in terms of looks, oh and performance, add the 17" powerbook to put the icing on the cake, makes any desk look amazing..... even on a toughend cardboard box.....eheh

Why not just buy a laptop and hide it in a drawer afterwards? :p
Oh wait, why do I keep on making sense when we're talking about people who have enough money to pay over $50k on a Windows computer?
Hell, rather than paying that much money on a computer, I'd say it makes more sense to buy a cheap Dell, use it once, and instead of hiding it after use, just throw it away. Order 3 or 4 each week, and you won't even have time to experience a virus OR a crash. ;)

I made a huge list of about anything I could think of that I would ever want from the Mac store. It has just about everything. All the computers are maxed out with Ram and hard drive space. Dual 30" LCD moniters. The best maxed out Power book. X-serve Raid. You name it.
No way I'd drop that much $$ on a silly Windblows machine stuck in a piece of furniture. My list added up to a mere $53,000 from the Mac store.. Now I ask.. what is the better deal?

Looks like a good idea for a fun mod project. Spend a few days, get those creative juices flowing, and whip out a similar thing with a Mac at the core, for a fraction of the price.

Maybe the desk is really really big?
Frankly - i find it quite ironic that something created to be discreet and unnoticed will probably be the most talked about and shown off item in the entire household

Or, you know - dont mod at all and attach a 23" studio display to the wall and put a mac mini in the drawer?
