View Full Version : From Tiger to Leopard on a PowerBook G4

Hi everyone,

I am interested in upgrading my PowerBook G4 from 10.4.11 to Leopard. I have listed my specs below:

Machine Name: PowerBook G4 15"
Machine Model: PowerBook5,4
CPU Type: PowerPC G4 (1.1)
Number Of CPUs: 1
CPU Speed: 1.5 GHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB
Memory: 1 GB
Bus Speed: 167 MHz
Hard drive: 120 GB

My questions are:

Should I upgrade to Leopard? Will my machine be able to handle it? 1 GB RAM is the max it can take right now as my lower RAM slot won't recognize anything I put in there.

If I do upgrade to Leopard, what's the best way to do it? I have read that a clean install is the way to go instead of Archive and Install. I keep a bootable backup of my current drive, so would I just be able to copy that information over if I do a clean install?

Thanks for any help you can offer!
