I have the 1st generation of the Macbook Air. Serial #: W881188DY51

I purchased a new hard drive from this website. I have connected a USB CD and purchased snow leopard. During the install screen, it doesnt show the new hard drive. What can I do? How do I format it? It is connected properly. Any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

You are going to partition and format the disk using Disk Utility from the Tools menu. You will need to change the options so that it is formatted as GUID (instead of Master Boot Record or Apple Partition Table), then make the actual format MacOS X Extended (Journaled).
